Lebanon (OR) Express, Wednesday, June 4, 2003 A7 Obituaries Thelma Mae Spires Thelma Mae Spires, 87, of Lebanon, died Saturday, May at The Oaks in Lebanon. Graveside services were held on Thursday, May 29, at the Lebanon 1.0.0.F. Cemetery. She was born May 14, 1916, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Oscar "Bud" and Ethel (Akers) Reynolds. When she was a child, her father worked in logging camps and the family lived in several Oregon communities.

She lived in the Albany area for several years before moving to Lebanon around 1940. She married Curtis J. Spires on July 19, 1941, in Albany. He died on Oct. 23, 1988.

Mrs. Spires was a past 4-H leader and a member of the Tennessee Community Club. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Carolyn Spires, of Port Angeles, Wash. and a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Gene Braught of Lebanon; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister died before her.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Evergreen Hospice. They may be directed to the HustonJost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St. Lebanon. Andie Peters Andie Peters, 59, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, May 27, at her home.

No services are planned. She was born Feb. 21, 1944, in Los Angeles, the daughter of James and Mary (Peterson) White. She was raised in the Los Angeles area and graduated from Washington High School in 1961. She married Ron Peters on April 16, 1962, in Englewood, Calif.

The couple moved to Oregon in 1967, living briefly in Sweet Home before settling in Lebanon. Mrs. Peters worked locally for the Blackford Co. and as a secretary at the Lebanon Middle School. From 1979- 1986, she was employed by the city of Lebanon as a dispatcher for police, fire and ambulance services.

Mrs. Peters was a member of the Santiam Four-Wheel Drive Club and the American Legion Santiam Post No. 51. She is survived by her husband, Ron, of Lebanon; two sons, Chris Peters of Sisters and Rick Peters of Lebanon; sister Kristine White of Albany; two grandchildren, Cortney and Shalayna Peters of Sisters. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to a charity of the donor's choice and sent in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W.

Grant St. Lebanon. Ellen Lankford Ellen Lankford, 82, formerly of Brownsville, died Tuesday, May 27, at Caring Hands Adult Care Home in Sweet Home. Graveside services were held Friday, May 30, at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany. Huston-Jost Funeral Home handled arrangements.

She was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Mahomet, the daughter of Scott and Sennie Belle (Stamper) Bolman. She lived in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky as a child. She married Glen "Doug" Lankford on June 2, 1940, in settled Dayton, Ohio, and Brownsville. the couple in worked many years for Wah Chang and later for Commodore Mobile Home Manufacturing in I Lebanon.

She retired in 1978. Mr. Lankford died on April 15, 1992. Mrs. Lankford is survived by two daughters, Becky Milligan of Brownsville and Sheryl Beaudin of Lebanon; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Two great-grandchildren died before her. Contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice. They may be sent to Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St. Lebanon.

Virgil G. Stitt Virgil G. Stitt, 88, of Lebanon, died on Tuesday, May 27, at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Beaverton. A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 31, at the Lebanon First Christian Church with a private family interment at the Lebanon 1.0.0.F.

Cemetery. He was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Foster, the son of James and Eva (Pentecost) Stitt. He and his father had a mail route from Lebanon up to Cascadia for several years. On that route he met Verna Eva King.

They married in Lebanon on Aug. 21, 1935. During the depression, the couple moved to Carlton, where they purchased a small grocery store that his wife ran while he worked as a logger. In 1940, they moved to Lebanon and he went to work for Crown Zellerbach Paper Company, where he worked until his retirement in 1966. They also organized a small company, Trailer Sales, to rent and sell R.V.s.

He was a member of the Lebanon First Christian Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon, and treasurer. He is survived by his wife, Verna of Portland; one daughter, Cynthia Ann Donkin of Lebanon; one son, Dale Arthur Stitt of Portland; three grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lebanon First Christian Church. They may be sent to Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St.

Lebanon. Henry John Bardin Henry John Bardin, 74, of Lebanon, formerly of Albany, died Friday, May 23, at Foster Care Home in Lebanon. A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 31, at Albany Missionary Baptist Church with a private interment at Willamette Memorial Park Mausoleum. He was born on December 2, 1928, in Hobart, the son of Wade and Annie (Steel) Bardin. In the late 1940s, he moved to Eureka, to work in the woods.

He married Marilyn Hale on Oct. 23, 1955, in Garberville, Calif. They moved to Yamhill in 1968, then lived in Sweet Home before moving to Albany in the early 1970s. He worked in construction for many years. His wife died on Jan.

20, 1997. Mr. Bardin is survived by two sons, Henry R. "Randy" Bardin of Lebanon and Darrell Bardin of Carlotta, two daughters, Vickie A. Bardin of Tangent and Judy Bardin of eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

His parents and brothers, Benny, Jack and JW, all died before him. Memorial contributions may be made to Albany Missionary Baptist Church. Danny Ray Calahan Danny Ray Calahan, 50, formerly of Lebanon, died in an automobile accident on Monday, May 26, near Galena, Mo.

Graveside services were held June 2 at Lebanon I.0.O.F. Cemetery. Huston-Jost Funeral Home handled the arrangements. He was born Aug. 4, 1952, in Lebanon, the son of Pete and Elverna (Trembley) Calahan.

He attended two years of college at Southern Oregon College in Ashland. Mr. Calahan worked on the pipeline in Alaska for a while and as a lineman for Pacific Gas and Electric Company. He lived in California for several years. He lived in the Galena, area for the past two years.

Calahan is survived by his wife, Betty Calahan of Galena, daughters Nichole and Kacey Calahan, both of Galena, parents Pete and Elverna Calahan of Lebanon; and brothers Bruce Calahan of Medford and Mike Calahan of Winston. His brother, Glenn Allen Calahan, died before him. James Calvin Middleton James Calvin Middleton, 64, of Hermiston, formerly of the mid-valley, died Friday, May 23, in Bullhead City, Ariz. A memorial service was held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Lebanon.

He was born April 21, 1939, in Neosho, to Troy and Elsie Middleton. He worked as a manager for Frager Furniture in Albany until 1979. He then moved to Hermiston to purchase Hermiston Fine Furniture. He sold the business in 1997. Mr.

Middleton was a member of the Hermiston Elks Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Hermiston; daughters Cindy Adams and Deborah Middleton; sons Dwight and Russell Middleton; brother Dennis Middleton; sisters Joyce Land and Betty Tulecki; and six grandchildren. Son Mark, sister Dorothy Edwards and brother Jack all died before him. Richard D. Bigler Richard D.

Bigler, 73, of Albany, died Saturday, May 24, at Albany General Hospital. A private graveside service with Military Honors was held at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery. He was born July 5, 1929, in Blythe, to Roy A. and Bessie E.

(Holmes) Bigler. He was the eldest of six children and the only son. In 1947, he graduated from Palo Verde High School in Blythe, Calif. He attended Arizona State University and San Diego State. He served in the U.S.

Navy during the Korean War. He was discharged in June 1955. He went to work as a Communications Technician with Pacific Telephone Company in July 1955. He worked in Southern California until 1975, at which time he transferred to Nevada Bell. Later he worked for He retired in December 1986, in Reno, with a combined service of 32 years.

He married Barbara J. Clements on Dec. 13, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nev. They moved to Lebanon in 1987, and have been Oregon residents since that time. He was a member of the American Legion Post No.

51 in Lebanon, and served several years on the Drill Team. Mr. Bigler is survived by his wife, Barbara of Albany; daughters Gina Krause of Lebanon, Sherra Bressen of Reno, Alisa Triglia Lebanon, and Richelle Criner of Salem; sisters Frances Wehe of Concord, N.C., Glennis Hill of Gardnerville, and Helen Crawford of Hemet, 11 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Two sisters died before him. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lebanon Post No.

51. William Grant Brinson William Grant Brinson, 62, of Lebanon, died Friday, May 30, at his home. A funeral service was held June 3 at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A private family interment took place at Lebanon 1.0.0.F. Cemetery.

He was born May 11, 1941, in Prineville, the son of Lester and Aleda (Campbell) Brinson. During his childhood, he lived in several areas in Oregon and Northern California. For the past 32 years, he has lived in the Albany area. He worked as a technical support technician at Oregon State University for the past 10 years. On Sept.

8, 1996, he married Sharon Funchess, in Virginia City, Nev. His son, Michael Todd Brinson, and sister Vivian Fisher died before him. Mr. Brinson is survived by his wife, Sharon of Lebanon; sons Joel of Albany and Scott, Deric, and Danny, all of Lebanon; daughter Tricia Sofich of Lebanon; stepson Kenny Funchess of Lebanon; step-daughter Cyndi Volkers of Albany; and 10 grandchil- dren. The family requests thate memorial contributions bemade to The American Cancer Society.

They may be directed. to Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant Lebanon, OR' 97355. Minnie Pearle Skyles Wilson Minnie Pearle Skyles Wilson, 95, of Lebanon, died June 1 at local nursing facility. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m.

on Saturday, June 7, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lebanon I.0.O.F. Cemetery. She was born Sept. 3, 1907, in a soddy-dugout at Almena, Norton County, to Ernest and Elizabeth Garner White.

When she was a small child, the family moved to Nebraska, They returned to Kansas when she was a teenager. In 1922, they moved to Missouri. On Dec. 18, 1923, she married Earnest L. Skyles in Houston, Texas County, Mo.

They moved to Lebanon on Aug. 7, 1942. She was employed for 17 years as a cook at several places including the "old" Lebanon Hospital, Mary Ellen Nursing Home, and Hillcrest Girl's School in Salem. She also was employed at the Spencer Cannery, and the Battery Division of the Cascades Plywood mill. Her husband died on Sept.

20, 1952. On June 2, 1970, she married Herman Wilson in Albany. He died on May 25, 1974. Mrs. Wilson is survived by daughter Erma Lee (Skyles) Brown of Salem; sister Naomi "Susie" Goodwin of Lebanon; brother Paul E.

White of Salem; daughter-in-law Ramona A. (Ray) Skyles of Chiba, Japan; Arly Skyles of Mission Viejo, Mark E. Brown of Lebanon; granddaughters Ardyth J. Skyles of Vacaville, Calif. and Evelyn A.

Sanoria of Pahoa, Hawaii; 12 great-grandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
