Lebanon (OR) Express, Wednesday, July 30, 2003 A7 Obituaries Carter Clarkston, of Lake Oswego, Laurie Julie Elizabeth Horst Elizabeth Horst, 93, of Albany, died early Tuesday, July 22, at Samaritan Albany General Hospital. Graveside funeral services were held July 26 at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. Memorial services followed. She was born April 6, 1910, in White Cloud, the second of seven children born to parents Albert A. and Mary (Troyer) Miller.

The family homesteaded in a sod house in Limon, where she attended school and worked on the family livestock farm. Following the Depression, the family moved to Oregon's Willamette Valley in the area between Halsey and Harrisburg. While attending Bible school at Hesston College, Elizabeth met Melvin J. Horst. They were married June 4, 1939, in her parent's home.

The couple began their family in Harrisburg before moving to the nearby communities of Holley and Sweet Home. In 1960, they moved back to Brownsville, and in 1986, to the Mennonite Village in Albany, where she became a member of Fairview Mennonite Church. She is survived by her son, Oren Horst of Goshen, daughters Jeanette Arello of Kansas City, Sharon Nesselrodt of Harrisburg, Lola Jenkins of Wixom, Beverly Armstrong of Archbold, Ohio, Miriam Kiogima of Union, Dorothea Coleman of Klamath Falls, and Melvena Gorman of Salem; brother William Miller of Albany; sister Lillie Mae Burkholder of Waynesboro, sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her husband, Melvin, died in September 1993. Her, sister Katherine Miller, and brothers Abram, Albert and Enos Miller also died before her.

Donald Vernon James Donald Vernon James, 84, of Lebanon died Tuesday, July 22, at The Oaks at Lebanon. Graveside services were (held July 29, at Lebanon 1.0.0.F.

Cemetery. Huston-Jost Funeral Home handled the arrangements. He was born May 4, 1919, in Gibson City, the son of Boswell and Mamie (Dewring) James. He worked as a carpen- Samaritan Health Services is pleased to introduce John Ward, MD, a family medicine practitioner. Dr.

On May 6, 1965, he married Rhonda Martin in Las Vegas, Nev. She died on May 9, 1971. Mr. James is survived by daughters Mamie McGarry of Las Vegas, and Nadjii Hanika of Rockwell, and one granddaughter. Corabel A.

"Coco" Oglesby Corabel A. "Coco" Oglesby, 68, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, July 23, at Twin Oaks Care Center in Sweet Home. A funeral service was held July 26 at Lebanon Chapel Christian Fellowship. A luncheon followed. Burial took place a Fairview Cemetery in Mill City.

She was born May 14, 1935, in Coquille, the daughter of Clarence L. and Neva M. (Walker) Church. She lived in Myrtle Point before moving with her family to Corvallis. She graduated from Corvallis High School in 1953, then attended Oregon State University for three years.

On Sept. 15, 1956, she married Ronald Oglesby in Corvallis. The couple lived in Eugene before moving to Myrtle Point in 1958. They lived in West Virginia, Milwaukie, Fullerton, and Seattle, before settling in Lebanon in 1971. In 1981, they moved to Myrtle Creek and lived there until moving back to Lebanon in 1996.

She had worked as an executive secretary, working locally for Lebanon School District and for many years at the Health Department in Roseburg. She was a member of the Lebanon Chapel and the Bowling. Association. Mrs. Oglesby is survived by her husband, Ronald of Lebanon; sons Craig A.

Oglesby of Tacoma, and Mark J. Oglesby of Petaluma, daughter Kimberly A. Pfaff of Mesa, sister Julia Schaer of Sacramento, and eight grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lebanon Chapel. They may be directed to Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W.

Grant Lebanon, OR 97355. Dorothy L. Tuma Dorothy L. Tuma, 73, of Lebanon, died Thursday, July 24, at her daughter's home in Lebanon. Private family services will be held.

Burial will be at Lebanon 1.O.0.F. Cemetery. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. She was born April 17, 1930, in Lebanon, the daughter of Raymond and Britta (Bilyeu) Ludtke. She attended Lebanon High School and lived in Lebanon her entire life.

On Nov. 3, 1949, she married Fred W. Tuma, in Lebanon. He died on Nov. 15, 1984.

She was a member of the Santiam Fish and Game Association and had belonged to the All-American Rock Hound Pow-Wow Club. Mrs. Tuma is survived by sons Gary and Michael Tuma, both of Lebanon; daughter Judy Moran of Lebanon; sisters Bernice Fisher of Salem and Bonnie Primasing and Shirley Ackeret, both of Lebanon; adopted brother Jack Albion of Lebanon; and five grandchildren. Grant Lebanon, OR 97355. Glory D. Coffey and Harding C. Coffey Glory D. Coffey, 78, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Lebanon, died on Monday, Jan.

13, 2003, and Harding C. Coffey, 82, of Lebanon, died on Saturday, July 26. They were married for 43 years. No services are planned for Mr. Coffey.

Huston-Jost Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Glory D. Coffey was born July 9, 1925, in San Antonio, Texas. Harding C. Coffey was born Nov.

4, 1920, in Haddem, Kan. They met in Los Angeles, where they were both police officers. Later, after they married, she became an attorney and he remained a police officer. When Mr. Coffey retired in 1972 they moved to Lebanon.

They decided attending a 320- acre ranch was too much and when their children graduated they moved to San Antonio, Texas. Upon Mrs. Coffey's death, Mr. Coffey moved back to Oregon to be close to his family. They are survived by their children, Lorelei Aiello of Manteca, Calif.

and Sandra Turnidge, Michael Coffey and Patrick Coffey, all of Lebanon; welcome Dr. John Ward A new choice for your care John Ward, MD joins the Geary Street Clinic in August 2003. Dr. Ward completed undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and medical school at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. Dr.

Ward completed his residency in Family Practice at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia. He is board certified in Family Practice and speaks fluent Spanish. Dr. Ward enjoys the preventative aspects of Family Medicine and works with patients to prevent the onset or progression of disease. He appreciates the opportunities to work with whole families, treating each member at the different stages of life.

Born and raised i in the Columbia Gorge, he and his wife Jennifer are excited to return to Oregon and look forward to raising their son and newborn daughter in Albany. The Ward family enjoys traveling, exploring the outdoors and spending time with their extended family. Dr. Ward also pursues an active interest in history and gardening. Samaritan Health Physicians eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Interment took place at Sandridge Cemetery. HustonJost Funeral Home handled the arrangements. She was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Cleveland County, the daughter of John K. and Nellie (Breese) Fry.

She lived in Oklahoma until moving to Brownsville when she was 16. She later graduated from Brownsville High School. During World War II, she worked for the civil service in Walla Walla, Wash. Following her service, she returned to Brownsville. She married and had two children while living in Holley.

She later divorced. In 1958, she moved to Los Angeles, and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She moved to Lebanon in 1978. Mrs. Olley is survived by daughters Jane Hutchings of Lebanon and Irene K.

Robinson of Sylmar, grandchildren Breann Holms of Lebanon and Sue Ann Hutchings of Chatsworth, Calif. Brothers John K. and James O. Fry and sisters Izetta Kilgore, Geneva Calhoun and Ora Fry all died before her. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

They may be directed to Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant Lebanon, OR 97355. Helen Fry Olley, 78, of Lebanon, died Friday, July 25, Ila L. Peele Ila L. Peele, 71, of Lebanon, died Friday, July 25, at the Mennonite Home in Albany.

Private family services will be held. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. She was born March 2, 1932, in Helena, and was raised in Wolf Creek, Mont. She spent three years in Europe before moving to the Willamette Valley in 1990. She has lived in Lebanon the past six years.

Mrs. Peele is survived by sons Clayton Arnold and Kevin Peele, both of Worth, Texas, Walter Peele of Albany and Jesse Peele of New Castle, daughter Therressa Coffman of Lebanon; brothers Gus Wolfe and Jimmy Lee, both of Augusta, sister Nancy Utter of Conrad, 10 grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. Barbara Reed Simpson Barbara Reed 1 Simpson, 88, of Salem, died Saturday, June 14, at South Salem Care Center. Services will be held at a later date. She was born May 20, 1915, in Lebanon to pioneers John G.

Reed and Vinnie Reed. Both families were early settlers, moving to Lebanon area in 1850s. She attended Reed School, which was named after her family, being one of the two students in the early years. Mrs. Anna Bond Reed, her grandmother, was the first teacher.

She later graduated from Lebanon High School. She divided her time between the family's large Victorian house on Grant Street and the ranch on Hamilton Creek while growing up. She received a real estate license while living in Walla Walla, Wash. She married Fraizer Simpson of Lebanon. They had two children.

They owned a restaurant in Lewiston, Idaho, for many years. They were later divorced. Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Lewiston, Idaho, Episcopal Church of the Nativity and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by son Dwight Simpson of Salem; daughter Darlene GorsetMeyers of Clarkston, grandchildren John Gorset of Carter of Lake Oswego, Julie Gorset of Kingston, and great-grandchildren Troy Carter, Kayla Vines and Mackenzie Jones.

Her sister, Elizabeth Herron of Lebanon, and a grandson died before her. Madeline Helen Bender Madeline Helen Bender, 97, formerly of Tangent, died Monday, July 21, at her Albany home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 25 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany. Interment took place at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany.

She was born Nov. 28, 1905, in Virginia, the daughter of Peter and Pauline (Janesky) Karpinski). The family moved to Sodaville when she was five years old. She attended school and lived in Sodaville until she was married. As a young woman, she worked for the Thompson family of Thompson Flour Mills, caring, for the Thompson's children and cooking for the household; including the work crew at the mill.

On Sept. 16, 1937, she married Richard J. Bender in Lebanon. They lived i in the Fry Station area east of Albany. until moving to a farm south, of Albany near the present location of Linn-Benton Community College.

The Benders moved to a home east of Tangent in 1973. Mr. Bender died in December of 1993. She moved to Albany the following year. She was a member of St.

Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Bender is survived by her son, David Bender of Tangent; daughters Barbara Keeney of Eugene and Judith Marie (Bender) Bachman of Springfield; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Four sisters and three brothers died before her. Memorial contributions may be made to St.
