Lebanon (OR) Express, Wednesday, September 14, 2005 A7 Obituaries Joyce Y. Thoma, 70, of died Sept. 10, 2005, at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. A recitation of the Rosary is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today, followed by a memorial mass at 11 a.m.

at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be at Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery. She was born March 21, 1935, in Geddes, S.

the daughter of Elisabeth (Eilers) and Alfred Anderson. She moved to Lebanon in 1949 and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1954. She was a princess on the Strawberry Festival court that year. On Nov. 27, 1954, she married Donald Thoma in Lebanon.

She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America and had worked at St. Edward's as the rectory housekeeper for many years before she retired in 1995. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, the Red Hat Society, Lebanon Strawberrians and served on the Strawberry Festival Board for many years. Survivors are her husband Don; daughter Sheree Irwin of Lebanon; sons Donovan Thoma of Stayton and David Thoma and Dorian Thoma, both of Vancouver; mother Elisabeth Anderson of Lebanon; brother Gary Anderson of Lebanon; sister Carol Baze of Lebanon; and six grandchildren.

Her father Alfred Anderson, brother Duane Anderson and niece Debra Baze died before she did. Contributions may be made to St. Edward's Catholic Church and sent in care of at Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St. Lebanon, OR 97355.

A celebration of life was held Sept. 9 at her daughter's home. She was born Aug. 29, 1943, in Seattle, the daughter of Robert and Rosemary (Dennis) Ramsden. She graduated from Blachett Catholic High School and went to Linn-Benton Community College and earned a degree in medical terminology.

On Nov. 20, 1971, she married Gordon Whipple in Seattle, Wash. They lived in the Sweet Home area since 1979. Survivors are her husband Gordon; son Phillip Larson; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Janelle Larson; daughters and sons-in-law Colleen and Rex Brown and Laura and Shane Powers; daughter and partner Shawna and Anjunette Whipple; two brothers; two sisters; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her sister Bev Morse died before she did.

Workman Steckly Funeral Chapel handled arrangements. LaRoy "Rocky" Fleming LaRoy "Rocky" Fleming, 86, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at his home, following a long illness. Paul Albert Levesque Paul Albert Levesque, 76, of Lebanon, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Lebanon Rehabilitation and Specialty Care. Private family services were held. He was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Nashua, N.H., the son of Alphonse and Marie Levesque.

He was raised in Nashua and married Pauline Farnsworth on June 30, 1951, in Nashua. The couple lived in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire, where he worked as a manager and cook in restaurants until retiring in 1990. He then moved to Lebanon and had a paper route for many years. Survivors are his wife Pauline of Lebanon; daughter Susan Dearborn of Hillsboro, NH; sons David Levesque of Kentucky and Kenneth Levesque of Bow, N.H.; brother Roland Levesque of Nashua; sister Annette Levesque, both of Nashua; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Eight brothers and three sisters died before he did.

8 at the Lebanon I.O.0.F. Cemetery. She was born Sept. 19, 1911, in Wausau, the daughter of Barney and Amelia (Hoffman) Lorensen. On Dec.

8, 1928, she married Ray L. Dennis in Phillips, Wis. They moved to Lebanon in 1947. She was a long-time member of the Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors are her daughter Fern Cantrell of Lebanon; daughter and son-in-law Geraldine and Dick Grabinski of Roseburg; son Arbutus Mack of Spearsville, son and daughter-in-law Arnold and Vera Dennis of Lebanon; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and her dog Penny.

Her husband Ray died in 1994. A brother and a sister also died before she did. Arrangements were handled by Taylor's Family Chapel in Winston, Ore. Paul Orville Haney Paul Orville Haney, 92, of Sweet Home, died Aug. 24, 2005.

A graveside service was held Aug. 29 at Liberty Cemetery in Sweet Home. He was born Sept. 14, 1912, in Konawa, the son of Orville and Clara (Doughty) Haney. During World War II, he served in the U.S.

Army. He worked as a millwright. His first two wives, Emma Garman and Violet Robert, died before he did. He married Myrtle Irwin in Reno, in 1979. Survivors are his wife Myrtle; sister Allyce Rohlena of Iowa; brother Phillip Haney of Washington; stepchildren; many grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His daughter Sharon Croff died before he did. Workman Steckly Funeral. Home handled arrangements. Ardeth "Ardie" Frum ARDETH Home. Burial FRUM will be at Sandridge Ardeth "Ardie" Frum, 71, formerly of Lebanon and most recently of Salem, died Sept.

10, 2005. Viewing will be at noon on Sept. 20 followed by a service at 2 p.m. at Huston-Jost Funeral Cemetery after the service. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5 to 9 p.m.

at Rudy's, located at the Salem Golf Course. She was born Sept. 20, 1933, in Bismarck, N.D., the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Olson) Benz. In 1951, she graduated from Lebanon High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Alan Frum, and they lived in Kodiak, Alaska; San Diego, and Portland.

After her husband graduated from dental school they moved to Mt. Angel, then to Salem in 1965. Survivors are her husband of 54 years, Dr. Alan Frum; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Darrell Herron of Bend; sons and daughters-in-law Alan and Jeri Frum Jr. of Oakley, Utah, and Dan and Melanie Frum of Silverdale, Wash; and nine grandchildren.

Hess, 57, of Lebanon, died Sept. 11, 2005, at home. Viewing will be from 3 to 07 p.m. today at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.

Sept. 15 at the Lebanon Evangelical Church. Burial will follow a at the Lebanon I.0.O.F. Cemetery. He was born March 28, 1948, in Eustis, the son of Paul and Mildred (Wollam) Hess.

Army and served during Vietnam. He was discharged in 1969 and settled in Lebanon. On Nov. 19, 1992, he married M. Frances Sullivan in Lebanon.

He worked for Weyerhaeuser Albany Paper Mill for 31 years before retiring in 2004. Survivors are his wife Frances; daughters Becky Hammond and Robbin Davis, both of Lebanon; sons Jimmy Sullivan of Ontario, Chris Hess of Albany and Clint Hess of Sweet Home; sisters Joan Mura of Prineville and Connie Hoffman of Lebanon; sister-inlaw Donna Hess of Culver; and ten grandchildren. His parents, daughter Melinda Sullivan, brother Rod Hess, grandson Landon Davis and son-in-law SSG Kevin Davis died before he did. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kevin Davis Drift Boat Fund, Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society and sent in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St.

Lebanon, OR 97355. Ryntha (Oldham) Sturges Ryntha (Oldham) Sturges, 100, formerly of Lebanon, died Aug. 24, 2005 in Milwaukie, Ore. A memorial service was held Sept. 9 at the First Congregational Church in Salem.

She was born Feb. 3, 1905, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Rol and Laura (Ruckert) Oldham. She grew up in Lebanon and attended local schools. She graduated from Oregon State College in 1928 with a degree in home economics.

In 1929, she married Alexander Sturges. They later divorced. She was a school teacher, a house mother at Willamette University and a poet. In her 90s, she was still teaching a second language at Chemeketa Community College in Salem. Survivors are her daughter Laura Turnbull of Palo Alto, sons Paul Sturges of Newburg and Jonathan Sturges of Bountiful, Utah; seven grandchildren; and cousin Ray Ruckert of Albany.

Her parents and sister Euretta (Dan) Dunnavan died before she did. Evelyn E. Sweet Home, 2005, at the in Albany. The funeral service was held Aug. 31 at Sweet Home's Assembly of Church.

Burial was at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Evelyn E. Shipp Shipp, 81, of died Aug. 24, Mennonite Home EVELYN SHIPP EVELYN SHIPP Lamesa, Texas, the daughter of Pastor Seb (Selwin) and Sybil (Debnam) Jones.

She was the second of eight children. Her father moved the family to Salem, to pastor a church in 1930. Later they moved to the family homestead in Silverton and Evelyn graduated from Silverton High School in 1942. She married Doyle Vincent Shipp on April 16, 1944, in Silverton, Ore. The couple lived in Oregon City in 1945 prior to moving to Valsetz in 1946.

They moved to Sweet Home in 1947 and she remained there until her death, except for 10 years in Silverton from 1987 to 1997, when she cared for her mother. She graduated from Merritt Business College in Salem. She was secretary for Governor Sprague prior to being secretary at Safeway's head office in Salem. She was employed for Sweet Home School District as a teacher's assistant at Oak Heights and special needs children at Liberty School. After retirement, she tutored students Sweet Home private Christian schools.

She was a member of Sweet Home's Assembly of God Church for 48 years. She played the guitar, banjo, and mandolin and sang. Survivors are daughters Sharon Sims Forsell and husband Bill of Salem, Robin Shipp of Albany; sons David and wife Donna Shipp of Murraysville, Timothy Shipp of Sweet Home, Kevan Shipp of San Diego; sisters Mary and husband Alois Swiger of Cleveland, Ruth Keisling of The Dalles, and Rachel and husband Dick Cobb of Monmouth; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and greatnieces and great-nephews. Her husband Doyle died January 6, 1987. Brothers Norman, Wesley and Jack Jones, and sister Mildred Harper also died before she did.
