She was a longtime member of the Scio and Lyons Rebecca Lodges, Lite Scio Historical Society and the Munkers and Jordan Garden Clubs. She is survived by a son, lolley Westenhouse of Scio; a daughter, Charmayne Westenhouse of Salem; six brothers, Louis Schwindt and Clarence Schwindt, both of Lebanon, Peter Schwindt of Bremerton, Joe Schwindt of Oakridge, Mike Schwindt of Lyons, and Fred Schwindt of Stayton; four sisters, Barbara Schindler of Mt. Angel, Rose Jungwirth of Hayfork, Frances Frietas of Hawaii, and Sister Ann Barbara of Marylhurst; one grandson; and two great grandchildren. Doris C. Marks Doris C. Marks, 83, of Lebanon, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1993 at the Lebanon Community Hospital. Funeral Mass was held Dec.

27 at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Paul Maher O.M.I, officiating. A graveside service will be conducted later at the St. Michaels Cemetery in Remus, Michigan. She was born Jan, 22, 1910 at Coeur D'Alene, Idaho to Michael and Antoinette (Schoner) Wernette.

She lived in Michigan until moving to California in 1947, where she worked as a electronics technician. She came to Lebanon in 1977. She was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Lebanon and the American Legion Auxiliary in Mecosta, Mich. She was married to Velerious Marks, who preceded her in death In 19C9.

She is. survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Atterberry of Lebanon, Veleria Rose Winters of Sequim, and Yvonne Reese of Douglas City, one son, Louis Ray Marks of Stayton; one brother, Justin Wernette of Remus, two sisters, Rose Daniels of Mecosta, Mich, and Pat Smith, also of Michigan; 18 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and three grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Huston Funeral Home. She was born March 6, 1909 in Klempin, Germany. She married Gunther Mandelkow, who survives, in Germany in 1938. She ame to Lebanon in 1956 and resided in the area since then. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lebanon. She is survived by her husband, Gunther Mandelkow; two children, Alwin Mandelkow of Lebanon and Gudrun Tompkins of Seattle; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Udo, in 1986. Contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church and left at Huston Funeral Home, Wayne Owen Blake Wayne Owen Blake, 78, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1993 at Mesa General Hospital in Mesa, Ariz. Pastor Douglas Dor-nhecker officiated. He was born Nov. 27, 1913 at Davis City, Iowa to William Thomas and Mary Jane (Bur-rell) Blake. He came to Oregon in 1939. During World War II he served in the U.S.

Army. A 30-year resident of Lebanon, he operated several service stations over the years, the last being one at the corner of Vine and Main Streets. He was a member of the Lebanon First Christian Church and a life member of Chapter 17 of the Disabled American Veterans. He married Hilda A. Faulkner on Feb.

4, 1906 in Lebanon. She survives. Other survivors are a son-in-law, Robert Forrest of Albany; a brother, James Blake of Fortuna, four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dutchess Forrest, in 1991. Kenneth Loren Waldron Kenneth Loren Waldron, 77, of Roseburg, passed away Thursday, Dec.

Waldron was born Aug. 23, 1916 in Montana, He married Almee Williams in LaGrande on Nov, 24, 1943. She survives. He lived in LaGrande and Lebanon before moving to Roseburg in l2. He was a member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge.

He built the Tom Tom Restaurant in Albany in l2 and operated it until 1906. In addition to his wife, Aimee Waldron, he is survived by one son, John Waldron, and his wife Debi, of Roseburg; three grandsons; and two granddaughters. Hubert C. Frazier Hubert C. "Tiny" Frazier, 69, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1993 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m.

He was born August 27, 1924 in Emerson, Iowa to Arthur and Florence (Lingo) Frazier. Heliv- -ed in Arkansas as a child. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He lived in Arkansas, Florida and Nebraska, then moved in 1970 to California, where he managed a hardware store.

He retired in 1979 --and moved to Lebanon. He married Glenda Rice on Nov. 1, 1978 in Stateline, Nev. She survives. Other survivors in-lcude three children, Shirley Frazier and Kirby Frazier, both of Florida, and Susan Dent of Modesto, one brother, Duane Frazier of Delaware; two sisters, Gail West of Portia, Ark.

In 1983 she joined her husband as a long haul truck driver. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi, Ladies of the Moose, and the Elketts No, 1663. Letters From page A-8 Editorials should show respect To the Editor: I have read the previous two editorials and am absolutely appalled at the TONE the editorials are taking.

Let's remove ourselves from the particular issue and talk only about the tone of the editorials. To write, "We were lax in recent months," "let's not get "caught with our guard down once again," "we won't make that mistake again," "we have been asleep, especially in Linn County" connotates that the paper is a parent and the residents of Lebanon and Linn County are bad little children who have erred in judgment and must be reprimanded. Both editorials were condescending and belittling. Any opinion can be expressed in a way that is upfront, honest, and" RESPECTS the opinion of those that don't share the same opinion. Respect is the issue the Lebanon Express has left out.

Both editorials were written without any respect of a differing opinion, which, right or wrong, is the overwhelming opinion of the majority of residents of Linn County. If one does not respect the other opinion, either side, then he or she is narrow minded. If the paper is going to exist in the town "that Friendliness Built," then the paper must respect all citizens, no matter what their views. I certainly donot want to read an editorial piat is condescending, belittling, and lacks respect even though I read all editorials, regardless of my personal view. Furthermore, I would never advertise in a paper with such a lack of respect for the community it serves.

The staff and owners of the Express need to think about how they express the paper's editorial even more than the contect they choose to" express. It requires five work days of waiting to legally buy a hand gun. Oregon and other states require 15 day days wait. I watched moving to the Lebanon area in 1938.

We have had suggestions to have every family own a hand gun with one member trained in its use.

Then we learn that families who own a gun are much more liable to have a member killed than families who do not have a gun. How in the world can we justify gun ownership, with this information? Of course we know that if gun ownership is outlawed, only outlaws will own guns. With school boys carrying guns to school, we find it difficult to confiscate them or punish the owner. I didn't learn of sportsmen using hand guns to go hunting. We have expanded our constitutional approval for military use of fire arms to include everyone.
