LEBANON (ORE.) EXPRESS, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1987 Jack Butzberger Jack Butzberger, 90, died day at local care center. His graveside funeral service conducted a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at' 1,00 Brownsville Pioneer Cemetery. Huston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Butzberger was born Jan. 11, 1897 in Switzerland, and emigrated to Orland, in 1922 and worked as a dairy farmer. After becoming a naturalized citizen in 1929, he married Gertrude Karo on Nov. 15, 1930 in Reno, Nev. He served with the French Arduring World War I.

"He moved to Oregon several years ago and had lived in Philomath for many years. His wife, Gertrude died in September of 1986 and then he moved to Brownsville in November, He later moved to Lebanon in January of this year. Butzberger was a member of the Portland local of Amalgamated Meat Cutters of Butcher Workmen of North America. Survivors include a brother, Ernst Butzburger 01 Switzerland; brother-in-law and sister-inlaw, Andrew and Ursula Karo of Brownsville; and several nieces and nephews, including Marianne LeDoux of Lebanon. Neal and Frank Karo of Brownsville, and Arne Karo of Salem.

Gary R. Dennis Gary R. Dennis, 39, died Monday, Sept. 21, while working at his logging operation 30 miles southeast of the Mountain House. His funeral service was conducted Friday, Sept.

25, at Huston Funeral Home. Burial followed at the 100F Cemetery with military rites given by American Legion Post No. 51. The Revs. Arthur Collins and David Carlson officiated at the services.

Dennis was born Sept. 27, 1947 at Shell Lake, and moved to Lebanon at the age of four. Attending Cascades and Hamilton Creek elementary schools, he graduated from Lebanon Union High in 1966 and completed a forestry course at Lane Community College. He joined the U.S. Army in August of 1967, married Nancy Opel on Dec.

23, 1967 in Lebanon and then served in Vietnam from February 1968 until March 1969. Following his discharge, he worked for Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill for four years, and Dennis Logging for a year. He then formed his own logging company, Shell Lake Logging, which he was operating at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, Nancy; a son, Dan and a daughter, Anna Dennis; his parents, Richard and Beverly Dennis; two brothers, Dewayne and Rick Dennis, all of Lebanon; and seven nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Lebanon Community Hospital for heart monitoring equipment.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert Remington of Lebanon and William Remington of Albany; and two grandchildren. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc.

Pastor Doug Dornhecker is conducting the services. Born Della Mae Hovenden on Nov. 11, 1913 in Woodburn, and married Ben Jones on Nov. 17, 1938 in Stevenson, Wash. She moved to Lebanon in 1946 and worked 20 years for the Lebanon Elementary School District as a cook, before retiring in 1979.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lebanon. Surviving is her husband Ben; two daughters, Myrna Bennett of Lebanon and Pat Hibdon of Eugene; two sons, Larry Jones of Lebanon and Robert Jones of Vancouver, two brothers, Ken Hovenden of Salem and Floyd Hovenden. of Vancouver, a sister, Edeltrude Jones of Portland; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children or the First Christian Church of Lebanon and left at the funeral home. Della Mae Jones, 73, died Saturday, Sept.

26 at her Byron G. Billings Byron G. Billings, 69, of Sodaville, died Sunday, Sept. 27 at the Lebanon Community Hospital. A graveside service is scheduled for 2.

p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the Liberty Cemetery. Chaplain Katie Kehler is officiating. Huston Funeral Home is charge of arrangements.

Born April 16, 1918 in Foster, he moved to Lebanon as a young child. He joined the Merchant Marines in the early 1930s, and served during World War II. He was discharged in 1945 and married Alice O'Connell on Dee. 22, of that year. They lived in Buffalo, for one year, Moving to Sodaville in 1947, he began working for Cascade Plywood in 1948.

He retired from there in 1981 after 33 years of employment. His wife preceded him in death on June 16, 1985 in Lebanon. He was a member of the Plywood and Veneer Workers Local 2554. Surviving is a son, Robert Billings of Salem; a daughter, Elaine Carlin of Sweet Home; two brothers, Howard Billings Portland and Earl Billings of Roseburg; a sister, Beulah Choat of Florence and four grandchildren. Jones Marjorie Anne Jones, 36, died Tuesday Sept. 22, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near her home. Her funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 26 at Sweet Home Seventh Day Adventist Church where she was a member. A private burial followed.

Steckly-Tracewell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Born Marjorie Phillips on Nov. 1, 1950 in Fremont, she moved to Lebanon in February from Cottonwood, Ariz. "She married Jack Jones on Dec. 20, 1971 in Oakland, Calif.

Surviving is her husband; a daughter, Susan Zimmerman of Lebanon; a sister, Linda Phillips of Fremont; two brothers, Stanley Phillips of Dublin, and Gary Phillips also of Fremont. Belle Capper Belle Capper, 102, died Sunday, Sept. 27 at Twin Oaks Care Center in Sweet Home. Funeral services is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.

30 at Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon. Burial follows at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. Pastor Larry Sloan is officiating. Born Belle Parks on March 16, 1885 at Langdon, Missouri, she married John Capper on Jan. 20, 1920 at Torrington, Wy.

They moved to Sweet Home in 1949 from Vancouver, Wash. where she was employed at Bess Keiser Hospital. Her husband preceded her in death on June 6, 1963. Mrs. Capper was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Holley Grange 335, Sweet Home Senior Citizens and ARP.

Surviving are two sons, Harold Hale of Omaha and Paul Capper of Brownsville; a daughter, Ester Aulmer of Talent; a sister, Marian Smith of Lindsey, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Prime rib dinner The American Legion Post of Lebanon is having its prime rib dinner on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall, 480 Main St.

"There are approxinfately 125 diagnosed mentally handicapped people in Linn County, Some are in institutions, group homes and some are living alone, people need to know that someone cares enough to donate a few hours week or month to being a companion, says Vista Volunteer Ellen Swanson.

"It. takes a special person with compassion to give time and attention to these people. Swanson is organizing the new program and is sponsored by the Linn County Mental Health Association.
