Obituaries Kathleen L. "Kay" Lynch Kathleen L. 63, of Lebanon, May 12, at her A memorial held at 11 a.m. today, May 15, at St. Edward Catholic Church.

She was born June 12, 1938, in Ta coma, the daughter of Clarence and Kathleen "Kay" Lynch, died Sunday, home. mass will be KATHLEEN L. LYNCH (Buffelen) Layton. She was raised in Tacoma and graduated from Aquinas Academy in 1956. She attended the University of Puget Sound for two years and graduated from Seattle University in 1960 with a B.A.

in Education. After graduation, she began teaching grade school in Portland. She married Philip Lynch on Sept. 8, 1962, in Tacoma. The couple moved to Spokane, in 1964.

They settled in Lebanon in 1965. She was a homemaker while her children were young. She received her real-estate license in 1991 and worked locally for Lebanon Real Estate and for Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.

She belonged to P.E.O., Lebanon Dames Investment Club and Delta Delta Delta Sorority alumni. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Philip G. Lynch, of Lebanon; sons Dr. Patrick Lynch of Wenatchee, Dr.

Brian Lynch of Lebanon; and Dr. Dennis Lynch of Sweet Home; daughters Colleen Resch of Woodburn and Molly Christensen of Seattle, brothers Jim Layton of Gig Harbor, and Father Richard Layton of Lafayette; sister Peggy Bartenetti of Los Angeles, and seven grandchildren. Rick Joe Overholser Rick Joe Overholser, 47, of Lebanon, died on Saturday, May 11, in Salem. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 16 at Huston-Jost Funeral Home, with Pastor Ron Hotrum officiating. He was born Jan. 24, 1955, in Lebanon.

He moved to Newport as a young child and graduated from high school there. After high school, he returned to Lebanon. He worked at Linn Gear from June 29, 1974, until June 16, 1998. Since leaving Linn Gear he has ventured out in various other types of work. He married Melissa Bryson on Oct.

14, 1995. She survives him. Other survivors include mother Bonnie Fernaays of Elk Grove, son Eric Overholser of Lebanon; daughter Candice Overholser of Lebanon; stepson Donald Bryson Lebanon; step-daughter Sabrina Bryson of Lebanon; sister Betty Yates of Lebanon; and granddaughter MacKenzi Overholser of Lebanon. Grant Lebanon, OR 97355. Barbara Ellen Mitchell Barbara Ellen Mitchell, 66, of Lebanon, died on Saturday, May 4, at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. Graveside services were held on May 8 at the Sand Ridge Cemetery near Lebanon. Workman and Steckley Funeral Chapel handied the arrangements. She was born Oct.

23, 1935, in Yakima, the daughter of Edward and Sarah Leona (Tye) Boyanton. She lived in California and Washington before moving to Lebanon in 1990. She married Mervin M. Mitchell on Jan. 11, 1985, in Portland.

He died on Sept. 15, 1991. She was a homemaker. She is survived by daughters Vera Sweat of Lebanon and Pam Wilson of Cashmere, adopted daughter and son-in-law Michelle and David Bennett; nine grandchildren; sisters "Sue" Claudia Krikscus of Tigard, Dixie Leeper of Las Vegas, and Edna Kajii of California; brothers Huge Boyanton of Salem and Michael Boyanton of Texas; and sister-in-law Tina. Daughters Leta Mitchell Sweat and Susan Grace Whitehead and son Samuel Whitehead III died before her.

26, Claudia A. LaJeunesse, 44, of Albany, died on Friday, May 10, at the Mennonite CLAUDIA A. LaJEUNESSE 1957, in San Bernardino, the daughter of Phyllis Jane (Pate) and Claude Franklin Breshears Jr. The family moved to Albany when she was a child, then to Lebanon during her junior year in high school. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1967.

She made custom dried floral designs and arrangements for friends and customers out of her home for 20 years, and showed her pen and ink drawings locally. In the past several years, she volunteered with the Christian Ministry Dance Team and performed with them in Washington and Oregon and in Nairobi, Kenya. She is survived by sons Micha Breshears, Jodi Wood, and Jesse LaJeunesse, all of Albany; daughter Hannah LaJeunesse of Albany; parents Claude and Phyllis Breshears of Albany; brothers Bruce Breshears of Bend and Gary Breshears of Redlands, sister Joan Lang of Lebanon; and 17 nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Evergreen Hospice, or the Mennonite Home. They may be directed to AAsum Funeral Home, 805 Ellsworth St.

SW, Albany, Jerome Lloyd Gross Jerome Lloyd Gross, 85, of Desert Hot Springs, died on Saturday, May 4, in Palm Springs, Calif. At his request, no services are planned. He was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Illinois, the son of Phillip and Nina Gross. He lived in Oklahoma before settling in North Bend.

He graduated from North Bend High School in 1935 and attended Oregon State University. He lived and worked in Alaska on a fish processing boat called the Yukon. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943, serving in France, Japan and the Philippines as a member of the medical corps. After his discharge, he attended Western States Chiropractic College in Portland (and received his license in 1950.

At that time he moved to Lebanon and opened his practice. In the early 1970s he moved to Gold Beach and had a practice there before retiring to Desert Hot Springs, Calif. He was a member of the Elks, Kiwanis, and the Chiropractic and Naturopathic Associations. He is survived by sons Dr. James Gross of Lebanon and Jon Gross of Beaverton; daughters Sherry Burkey of Albany; sister Phyllis LaFond of Quincy, six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Sylvia Beatrice Paseman Sylvia Beatrice Paseman, 84, of Lebanon, died on Monday, May 6, at Villa Cascade Care Center. A memorial service was held on May 10 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Huston-Jost Funeral Home handled the arrangements. She was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Sparta, the daughter of Mark and Viola (Hansen) Baker.

She came with her family from Sparta, to Eugene in 1927. She married Herbert C. Paseman, in Vancouver, Wash. They moved to Lebanon in 1940. Her husband died in 1997 and she moved to The Oaks retirement center soon after.

She is survived by her son, Dale Paseman of McKinleyville, brothers Hugh Baker of Lebanon and Don Baker of Florence; sister Margaret Mola of Eugene; four grandchildren; and five, great-grandchildren. Leroy, Dennis and Ray; daughter Fay Paseman; brother Charles "Chuck" Baker; and sisters Ruth German and Georgia Jones died before her. Eleanor E. Hoyt Eleanor E. Hoyt, 88, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, May 8, at The Oaks in Lebanon.

Graveside services were held on May 13 a at Lebanon I.O.0.F. Cemetery. HustonJost Funeral Home handled the arrangements. She was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Denver, the daughter of Elmer and Edith (Philpott) Gray.

She was raised in Denver and following her graduation from high school went to work for Gates Rubber Co. She married William C. Hoyt on April 11, 1944, in Marysville, Calif. The couple lived in California before moving to Grants Pass. They eventually settled in Lebanon in 1958.

While in Lebanon, she worked for the local auction yard. When they moved to Salem in 1965, she went to work for the State of Oregon in the Abundant Food Center. They returned to Lebanon when she retired in 1978 and was the first resident of The Oaks Retirement Community. He died on Sept. 20, 1988.

She is survived by son James Hoyt of Prineville; sister Lucille Franssen of Johns Town, and two grandchildren B.J. and Christopher Hoyt. Brother Russell Gray died before her. Loretta Evelyn Walker Loretta Evelyn Walker, 90, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, May 1, at Villa Cascade Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.

on Saturday, May 18, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. She was born April 20, 1912, in Kenesaw, the daughter of Henry and Ethel (Weaver) Ramsey. She was raised in Nebraska, where she worked as a teacher's assistant before moving to Coquille in the early 1930s with her family. She later moved to Portland and worked as a housemother and taught mathematics at Hills Military Academy. She then went to work for the Roberts Brothers Department Store in the Ladies Better Wear Department.

She moved to Lebanon in the early 1950s and worked for the Children's Farm Home in Corvallis. She married Floyd Walker on March 21, 1958, in Lebanon. In Lebanon, she worked primarily as an independent sales representative for Merle Norman Cosmetics and later represented Shaklee Products. She is survived by her husband, Floyd of Lebanon, four nieces and one nephew. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

He served as a signal message clerk. When he was discharged in 1955, he returned to Lebanon. He married Janette, Weller on March 10, 1956, in Lebanon. He went to work for Linn County Telephone in 1961 and retired from P.T.I. Communications (currently Century Tel) in 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Janette of Lebanon; daughters Karen Keller of Lebanon and Shari Hooker of Burns; son Tony of Lebanon; brothers James of Mill Creek, Robert of Vale, Glendon of Baker City, and Andrew of Lebanon; sisters Mildred Hayes and Aida Van den Bos, both of Lebanon; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Susan Dianne Walker Susan Dianne Walker, 54, of Lebanon, died Saturday, May 11 at the Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland. A memorial service was held on May 14 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Albany. Huston-Jost Funeral Home handled the arrangements. She was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Edgemont, S.D.

She moved to Burbank, as a child and graduated from high school there. She attended Beauty College and worked as a beautician in California before moving to Sweet Home in 1968. She married Thomas R. Walker on June 29, 1968, in Sweet Home. The couple lived in Sweet Home, Roseburg, and Woodburn before settling in Lebanon in 1971.

She worked as a bar tender at Linn Lanes Bowling Alley, as manager of Tobacco Road and most recently as a teller at the Hwy. 34 Gas Station. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Lebanon; son Thomas Jr. of Lebanon; daughters Kimberly Bevel and Wendee Ford, both of Lebanon; mother Mabel Volz of Albany; brother Virgil Cramblett of Sweet Home; sister Karen Drushella of Lebanon; and 11 grandchildren. Her father, Eldon Cramblett, died before her.

Dixon, 87, of Lebanon, died Saturday, May 11, at Lebanon Community Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., today at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery. She was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Peru, the daughter of James and Maggie (Becker) Reed.

She was raised in Kansas and married Victor Dixon on Sept. 13, 1930, in Independence, Kan. The coupled lived in Colorado for a short time before settling i in Lebanon in 1934. She worked at a battery separator plant for a number of years. Her husband died on Sept.

14, 1995. She was a past member of the Lebanon Pearl Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by daughters Alice Pracht of Lebanon and Pat Renfro of Albany; son Richard Dixon of Albany; sisters Geneva Anderson of Oklahoma and Opal Roberts of Kansas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Son Victor James Dixon died before her. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Van den Bos, 69, of Lebanon, died Friday, May 10, at Lebanon Community Hospital. Funeral services were held May 14 at Lebanon First Assembly of God Church. Burial followed at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery. He was born Feb.

10, 1933, in Valier, the son of Nicholas and Olga (Lindberg) Van den Bos. He attended Francis Heights Grade School in Valier. A memorial service was held on May 12 at the Albany Mennonite Church. Private vault interment was held at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Albany. She was born Feb. 3, 1913, in Ayr, the daughter of Christina Ursinus and Mary Elizabeth (Kauffman) Snyder. She grew up in Holstein, and after graduating from high school she received her nursing degree from the La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing in La Junta, Colo.

She moved to Filer, Idaho, and worked in Twin Falls. She married Paul W. Vandiver on Sept. 1935. They moved to Hanson, Idaho, for a short time before moving to Albany in 1937.

They lived in Lebanon for a short time before purchasing a farm in the Cottonwood area where they raised their children and peppermint. She worked at Lebanon Community Hospital for 16 years before they moved to Logsden in 1955. She worked at a hospital in Newport. The following year they moved to Glenwood Springs, where she was the Director of Nurses at Mountain View Nursing Home. In 1974, they moved to Salida, where she served as Director of Nurses at Columbine Manor Nursing Home.

They retired in 1978 to Stevensville, Mont. They returned to Albany in 1990, settling in the Mennonite Village. She is survived by her husband, Paul, of Albany; son Richard Vandiver of Salem; daughter Norma Eason of Lebanon; brother Donald Snyder of Goshen, sisters Inez Deiner of Hesston, and Harriet Bartruff of Albany; seven grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren. Infant sisters Opha and Irene Snyder, brother Kenneth and Jacob Snyder and granddaughter Cindy Baley all died before her. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Mennonite Village.
