2:54 p.m. An adult and a juvenile were placed in custody for shoplifting at Safeway. Both were charged with Theft 3. 5:07 p.m. A female juvenile on Filbert Street reported there was a man there that' refused to leave.

It was found to be a custody dispute. Police stood by until it was settled. 5:34 p.m. The man in the previous report was assaulted by another man. The report was sent to the city attorney.

6:04 p.m. A man, Paul Nichols, 43, was cited for violation of a habitual offender order He was lodged. 7:11 p.m. A man was lodged for detox after tearing up his residence. 8:05 p.m.

A male was reported to have beat up a female on Eddie Street and was chasing her around her vehicle. The female was out of control and suspected of possession of narcotics. 11:16 p.m. A caller reported that her neighbor took her shop-vac. When they tried to get it back there was trouble.

The shop-vac was not found. 6:27 p.m. A man was cited for driving while his license was revoked. 8:47 p.m. A man reported that the window on his back door was broken.

A rock was thrown through the window. Loss estimated at $400. 9:46 p.m. Two kids were reported to have run down an alley. on A Street and shot out a window on the caller's camper.

Loss estimated at $50. 10:49 p.m. A caller reported seeing a couple of men go inside a building that belonged to a church on Street. Nojntry was gained. Sunday, July 9 12:22 a.m.

A woman reported that a group of people were trying to get in and beat her up. It was found to be an ongoing problem. 3:15 p.m. A caller reported a large group of people were loud. Contact made and it was a birthday party.

They said they would keep it down. 2:33 p.m. A caller requested that police check on the welfare of the caller's mother, who had been ill. She was too weak to answer the door. Medics were called and she Lebanon Fire District Monday, July 3 10:18 a.m.

Nelson John F. Nelson, 41, of Lebanon died Friday, July 7, 1995 in Lebanon. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Jost Funeral Home, 777 Park St. was held Tuesday, July He was born Nov.

2, 1953 in. Blythe, Calif, to Tommy L. and Kathleen (Younce) Nelson. The family moved to Lebanon in 1 965, when he was 11. He attended Green Acres Elementary School, Lebanon Middle School and Lebanon Union High School.

He worked in logging and in heavy construction for the Army Corps of Engineers after Mt. St. Helens erupted. He also worked for All-Temp Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, and in 1990, began working for Safari Coaches as an electrician. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock hounding, writing, camping, reading, and sports.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor. Survivors include his father, Tommy Lee Nelson of Lebanon; his sons, Cristopher Nelson and Nick E. Nelson, both of Albany; his daughters, Amanda K. Nelson of Albany and Julian L. Nelson of Corvallis; his brothers, David Nelson of Scapoose and Ronald Nelson of Lebanon; and his sisters, Julie Wise of Salida, Carol Kraemer of Lebanon, Linda Udell of Lebanon, and Kaye Kilfoil of Independence.

His mother and five brothers preceded him in death. Jost Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Rosemary Crescence Barreto Rosemary Crescence Barreto, 67, of Lebanon died Wednesday, June 28 at her home. A funeral mass was held Saturday, July 1. at St.

Edward's Catholic Church. Father Paul Maher officiated. The concluding service was private. She was born Feb. 21, 1928 in Morrison Bluff, Ark.

to Theodore and Clara (Geels) Rockenhaus. She grew up in Arkansas and attended Mt. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kan. for two years before moving to to San Francisco, where she worked for Langendorf Corporation. She married Thomas Barreto on Dec.

29, 1951 in Morrison Bluff, Arkansas. The couple lived in California until moving to Lebanon in 1961 from Marysville, Calif, She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and served as the coordinator of the church liturgy committee. She was also a member of the St. Edward's Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters.

She served on the St. Edward's election board as chairperson of precinct 67. She was a. homemaker who enjoyed remodeling, gardening and sewing. She also enjoyed raising farm animals and visiting the Oregon Coast.

She is survived by her husband Thomas; by her five daughters, Kathleen Muravez of Corvallis, Karen Rasmussen of Ashland, Claire Veseth of Moscow, Idaho, A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 1 1 at the Albany First Assembly of God Church. A private family burial was held at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Proctor was bom May 30, 1927 in Mountain Grove, the son of William D. and Ida Proctor. He was raised in Mountain Grove and graduated from high school there.

In January 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as Fireman First Class. After his discharge in 1947, he moved to Walla Walla, where he worked in construction. He moved to Albany in 1979 and began working for Ransom and Smith Realty. He was involved in the Cannery and Heritage Mall projects.

In 1994, he opened Don Proctor and Associates. He closed it in 1995 when he became terminally ill. He married Violet M. Zolnowsky in Albany on Feb. 24, 1990.

She survives. He was a member of Albany First Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed wrestling and football and being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his sons, Dale D. Proctor of Everett, Wash, and Eric P.

Suing of Newberg; his daughters, Katherine M. Kelker of Kennewick, Wash, and Julie L. Kester of Chandler, his brothers, Bill Proctor of Palm Desert, Max Proctor of Moscow, Idaho, and Lorn Proctor of Walla Walla; his sisters, Ethel Forinash of San Fernando, Inez Freeman of Bishop, Barbara Marquart of Salem, and Bea Kimball of Mountain Grove, and nine grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Albany First Assembly of God Church, Benton County Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice. Huston Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Dee E. Mitchell Dee E. Mitchell, 77, of Lebanon died Wednesday, July 5, 1995 in Lebanon. Funeral services were held Monday, July 10 at Huston Funeral Home. Pastor Ron Hostrum officiated.

Private burial followed at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. He was born March 14, 1918 to Charles and Georgie (Settle) Mitchell on the Settle Donation Land Claim in Lebanon, where he lived all his life. He attended Lebanon schools and graduated from Lebanon Union High School. He fanned his family's land for many years, and also worked for 15 years for the Truax Company. He retired in 1983.

He married Laura "Jean" Dehm on April 30, 1939 in Kelso, Wash. She survives. Other survivors include -his daughters, Judy Vandenbos of Vale and Deejee Mitchell of Portland; his sons, Jim Mitchell of Albany and Richard Mitchell of Lebanon; his sister, Mildred Bally of Portland; nine grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren. Two brothers died before him. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Evergreen Hospice, and sent in care of Huston Funeral Home, 86 W.

Grant Lebanon. Rood; and three sisters, Sandra Lee Jones of Tuscaloosa, Linda Lou Musgrove of Lebanon and Bonnie Jean Buckner, also of Lebanon. Two grandchildren also survive him. Minnie Sanderlin Minnie Sanderlin, 82, of Lebanon died Sunday, July 2, 1995 in Lebanon. Funeral services were held Friday, July 7 at Jost Funeral Home.

Cremation followed. Sanderlin was bom May 8, 1913 in Portland to Jacob and Elisa Bolliger. She lived in Portland until her marriage to Clinton Sanderlin in Stevenson, Wash, on May 19, 1939. The couple moved to Tillamook, where they lived until 1946. They moved to Toledo and then to Quesnell, British Columbia in 1963.

They returned to Oregon in 1972, moving to Lebanon in 1976 from Monroe. She was a member of both the Crowfoot Grange and the Lebanon Senior Center. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also liked to travel. She is survived by her husband, Clinton Sanderlin; by her daughters, Carol Bilyeu of West Linn and Donna Ghormley of Eddyville; her brother, Charles Bollinger of Portland; and her sisters, Helen Stephenson and Martha Thomas, both of Portland.

Six grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren also survived her. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Truman Joseph Griffin Truman Joseph Griffin, 76, of Lebanon died Tuesday, July 4, 1995 in Lebanon. Funeral services were held Friday, July 7 at Family Bible Fellowship. Pastor Dennis Tooker officiated.

Burial followed at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Griffin was born Oct. 4, 1918 at Turtle Lake, Wis. to James and Frances (Bezner) Griffin. He grew up in Ladysmith, Wis.

and married Hazel Eveleth in 1952. The couple moved to Oregon. They moved to Lebanon in 1958 from Albany. He worked at Champion Plywood in Lebanon for 26 years, retiring in January 1982. He attended Family Bible Fellowship, where he was baptized in July 1994.

He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Barbara Williams of Salem and Donna Griffin of Lebanon; his sisters, Edna Griffin, Dorothy Griffin and Evelyn LaBerge, all of Ladysmith, and his two grandchildren, Staci Williams and Kim Williams. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions are made to either Family Bible Fellowship or Lebanon Community Hospice. Don William Proctor Don William Proctor, 68, of Albany died July 8, 1995 in Albany. an upholstery and furniture refinish-ing business in Lebanon. She was also a certified homemaker, taking care of patients in their homes.

She was a member of the Lebanon Garden Club and the Femridge Garden Club. She loved flowers. When she could, she kept a garden. Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death. A daughter, Wanda May, died in infancy.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Jane Gentry and Dona Marie Townsend, both of Lebanon; six grandchildren, Eyvonne Utley of Lebanon, Nancy Weaver of Lacomb, W.D. Gentry of Troutdale, Jack Gentry of Eugene, Terry Gentry of Vancouver, and Arthur Townsend of Fairbanks, Alaska. She is also survived by 1 1 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby M. Quinton Ruby M.

Quinton, 87, of Lebanon, died Sunday, July 2 at Lebanon Community Hospital. At her request, no services are planned. Interment will be at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. She was born Feb. 1, 1908 in Delight, Ark.

to William and Leila (Brumley) Marrow. She moved to California in 1946 from Arkansas, and moved to Lebanon in June 1947, where she settled. She married Thomas V. Quinton on Dec. 24, 1927 in Pine Valley, Okla.

He survives. Other survivors include her four daughters, Lebanon residents Betty Shipman and Wilma Simpson, Dorothy Stevens of Troutdale and Paulette Rosas of Honey Creek, Iowa; two sons, Paul Quinton of Lebanon and Bill Quinton of Athens, Ala; four sisters, one brother, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two of her sons, T.J. Quinton in 1985 and Donald Quinton in 1944. Memorial contributions may be given to the Lebanon First Assembly of God Church Senior Program and directed to Huston Funeral Home.

Clyde Junior Rood Clyde Junior Rood, 42, of Portland and formerly of Lebanon died Saturday, July 1, 1995 in an accident on Highway 20 north of Lebanon. Memorial services were held Thursday, July 6 at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Rood was bom May 14, 1953 in Chardon, Ohio to Clyde W. and Betty June (Champlin) Rood. His family moved to Lebanon in 1968.

He worked as a security officer in the LebanonAlbany area as an adult. He moved to Portland six years ago. He worked as an apartment manager. He is survived by his companion, Linda Moe of Portland; his mother, Betty Rood of Lebanon; two sons, Clyde Junior Rood II of Edwards Air Force Base in California and David Rood of Klamath Falls; one daughter, Tina Rood, also of Klamath Falls; two brothers, Lebanon residents James Rood and Raymond Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pullen Joseph M. Pullen, 63, of Lebanon died Wednesday June 28, at Lebanon Community Hospital. A memorial service was held Friday, June 30 at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Paul Maher officiating. A gathering at the church hall followed the service.

He was bom April 30, 1932 in Albany to John H. and Katherine (Russel) Pullen. He was raised in the Hermiston area and then moved to Yakima, Wash. In June 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

He was stationed in Florida during the Vietnam War. Mr. Pullen moved back to Washington after his discharge in June 1 956. He moved to Oregon and met Margaret Joerg in Creswell in the late 60s. He moved to Lebanon in 1979 to be with her.

He has lived here since then. He was a member of the American Legion Lebanon Post 51. He also belonged to the Linn-Benton Concert Band. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, cooking, electronics, mechanics, and carpentry, but I his main interest was music. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his two daughters, Dennise Olson of Milwaukie and Christine of Hermiston; and his two sons, Jim Pullen of California and David Pullen of Hermiston; his brother, Dan Pullen of Sweet Home; his half brother, Bob Garvin of Creswell; and seven grandchildren.

Huston Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Mary Ann Mills Strickler Mary Ann Mills Strickler, 87, of Lebanon died Sunday, July 2, 1995 in Lebanon. Graveside services were held Monday, July 10 at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Pastor Tom Shepherd officiated. She was born June 2, 1908 in Rice, Wash, to Walter Lenard Guy and Victoria Marie (Carter) Gaylord in a log and sod cabin on the homestead of her maternal grandparents, William and Mary Ann Carter.

As a child, she moved with her parents to the home of her paternal grandparents, Martin B. and Rosetta A. Gaylord, on upper McDowell Creek near Lebanon. She finished her schooling at McDowell Creek School. The family moved to Hood River in the mid-19205.

While working in the apple harvest, she met Claude Leslie Mills. They were married July 2, 1926. They moved to Lacomb and later Tangent, where they lived for two years before returning to Lacomb in 1935. They moved to Lebanon in 1945. Claude Mills died June 5, 1958.

She married W. D. Folliet on Sept. 30, 1960 in Reno, Nev. They were divorced.

She then married Vernon W. Strickler on June 28, 1967 in Lebanon. Vernon Strickler died April 20, 1975. Mary Ann Mills Strickler operated Patrice Winters of LaGrande, and Cecilie Barreto of Seattle, her four sons, Brian Barreto and Tim Barreto, both of Lebanon; Greg Barreto of LaGrande, and Tom Barreto of Portland; her brother, Jerome Rockenhaus of Ft. Meyers, her sister, Theresa Horner of Ft.

Meyers, and 22 grandchildren. Her 22nd grandchild, Rosemary Jane Winters, was bom the same day she Barreto died. Memorial contributions may be made to St, Edward Catholic Church Scholarship Fund or the Lebanon Community Hospice and directed to Huston Funeral Home. Joseph Andrew Roberts Joseph Andrew Roberts, 30, of Lebanon was found May 28, 1995 in the Willamette River near St. Paul.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Providence Church, 3587 Richardson Gap Scio. He was born Sept. 15, 1964 to William P. and Wilma (Wise) Roberts in Houston, Texas.

He moved with his family to Albany When he was four. He attended Albany schools and South Albany High School. He lived in Albany most of his life. He enjoyed camping and swimming. He is survived by his father, William P.

Roberts of Bend; his mother, Wilma Roberts of Lebanon; his brothers, James Roberts of Lebanon and John Roberts of Albany; his six sisters, Diana Ham of Canada, Robin Evans of Sweet Home, Patricia Wolfer. of Albany, Jeannie Harvey, Linda Thomason and Roberta Trudgeon, all of Tacoma, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother. Contributions in his memory may be made to his family to help defray funeral costs. Huston Funeral Home, 86 W.

Grant is handling arrangements. Laura Frances Schmidt Laura Frances Schmidt, 82, Albany, died Monday, June 26, 1995 at her home. A funeral service was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, June 30. Pastor Robert Bjomstad presided over the senice. She was raised in Mahnomen, Minn, and moved to Oregon as a young adult.

She lived in the Cottonwoods area and worked at Desert Seed Company, and then at Mutual Produce of Corvallis. She retired at the age of 63. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and fishing, and she was a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lebanon and sang in the choir for 1 0 years. She also traveled to Germany and traced her family history in the early 1970s. She married Arthur Schmidt in 1931 in Lebanon.

He survives. Surviving children are Richard Schmidt of Aloha and Mary Paul of Sweet Home; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Lilly Lueck of Albany and Edna Kaste of Mahomen, Minn. So look for products made from recycled materials, and buy them. It would mean the world to all of us.
